Blacklisting is available to list the parent / guardian on
either TPN or TPN and TransUnion Credit Bureau.
There are certain requirements before loading a negative/
adverse listing (previously called blacklisting) :
·
The parent account must be in arrears for three
(3) consecutive billing cycles.
- You must send the parent a
formal letter of demand which specifically stipulates your intention
to adversely affect their credit profile on a Credit Bureau. The TPN
Letter of Demand is sufficient for this purpose.
- The parent must be given twenty
(20) business days from the date the letter of demand was sent to
rectify the breach.
- You may not blacklist for
debt older than three (3) years (prescribed debt).
The workflow is as follows:
- Log
onto TPN.
- Select My
Data from the blue ribbon at the top of the screen.
- By
default, all open accounts will reflect on the list available.
- Search
for a parent by inserting either the address (or part
thereof), the parent’s name / ID number (or part
thereof), or the reference number. Click the Apply
Filter button.
- Select
the parent by clicking on the Reference Number to the
left of their name.
- Select Blacklistings from
the left hand side menu, underneath Listings.
- Click Add
a new blacklist record for this parent.
- Enter
the default information:
- Default

busy loading the listing on.
- Rating: The

the listing on two Bureaus (both TPN and TransUnion). It is recommended
that you choose an option underneath TPN and TransUnion (optional)
